Seems a bit like an oxymoron doesn’t it? Individual family therapy? But yes, family therapy can happen with individuals. Many times highly-sensitive people have a challenge learning to connect with relationships. Or they can feel overwhelmed by sensations and even the family can feel powerless to help. Many times children of Highly Sensitive People can be highly sensitive themselves. This, of course, creates seveal challeges

Family Therapy Together

Family therapy can happen as a couple or family (note: due to contractual obligations, we are unable to see children as the sole client). Like individual family therapy, we look at where the relationship is not connecting. Is there yelling the family? Berating one another? Or has it just settled into a chilly silence?

Online Family Therapy

At Covenant we work to first understand the relationships and the dynamics of the family using a variety of assessments as well as good old-fashioned talking. We want to understand your family strengths and values before we see what needs changing. 

One we understand how you feel about the relationship, as well as how your spouse does, then we work towards a goal on which we all agree. Then we get to work, using a variety of talents, to help your family through the diffiult times and on to the bright skies ahead.  

Frequently Asked Questions about Teletherapy

What happens if either internet connection goes down?

That happens – and power lines go down at an office – but we will set a backup. We can reconnect by cell phones – either audio or video or we’ll reschedule if needed. 

 Do you take my insurance?

At this time, we are out-of-network for insurance. Between high-deductible plans, closed insurance panels, the lack of teletherapy support, and mostly some major concerns over personal privacy, we found it more beneficial to let clients control their own billing. We will provide a “Superbill” (a specialized receipt you can submit to your insurance) via email to be reimbursed for out-of-network expenses. 

What if there’s a emergency?

We’re based in Columbus, so we know most of the emergency services in this area. If you’re out of the region, we’ll make sure that get the names of emergency services and an emergency contact for you. If you are at the point of needing help, we’ll make sure that we can get it for you.

What Equipment / Speed do I need?

We use a professional microphone set up with headphones for privacy and have a pretty decent sized internet connection. You only need a camera, a microphone, and a connection 10mbs or better (most internet providers are at least this).  If you wonder if your setup is enough, sign up for the free 15 minute consultation and give it a try.
